At Eyes On Optometrists we are committed to providing you with honest, independent advice and eyecare.  Many of our optometrists have undertaken additional studies and are able to prescribe a wide range of medications to treat common eye conditions.

John Jalowicki

John is the founding partner at Eyes On.  He completed his optometry degree at Melbourne University in 1979.  Shortly after he went on to study Audiometry (hearing) though he no longer practices in this area.  John was the first Eyes On Optometrist to complete his therapeutics degree.  He has interests in the area of contact lenses, therapeutics and computer related vision problems.  He is also specializes in difficult contact lens fitting such as Keratoconus, and the Synergy hybrid lens.
 
John works at our Collins St, Warrandyte and Rosebud stores.
 
In his spare time, John has been restoring an old country Pub.
 

Johanna Arendsen

Bachelor of Science (Optometry) Melb Uni

Jo graduated from Melbourne Uni in 1993 and is a founding partner at Eyes On.   Her area of interests include contact lenses, laser vision correction and computer related near vision problems.  She has had considerable experience in the area of laser eye sight correction having worked with a leading eye specialist performing the pre and post operative assessments.

Jo is a mum and currently works part time at our Queen Street store.

 

Russell Hunter

Bachelor of Optometry (Melb Uni)

Russell graduated optometry in 2000 and has been working in the Rosebud area since 2005.  He has been actively involved in kindergarten screening days and giving talks to the local community.  He has traveled overseas to perform volunteer optometry work in the remote regions of Nepal.

In his spare time, Russell enjoys walking his Border Collie and watching the AFL.

 

Kellie Knowles

Bachelor of Science (Optometry) UNSW

Kellie graduated from the University of New South Wales in 1984 and practiced in Sydney for many years before joining us on the Mornington Peninsula.  She has interests in the area of Children's vision, contact lenses an aged care.

Kellie works part time at our Dromana store.

 

Robert McIlroy

Rob graduated in 1998 and immediately moved to Shepparton to help develop his skills in one of the regions most renowned practices.  After two years overseas he return to Melbourne and worked as a clinical consultant with an independent optometric research company.  During his time there he attended and presented at conferences in the USA and UK.  
 
Rob joined Eyes On in 2008 and currently works part time at our Queen Street store.  Outside work, Rob's interest include public speaking, fun runs and spending time with his little daughter.  He is currently completing his ocular therapeutics training at the Australian College of Optometry.
 

Kurt Mechkaroff

Kurt first completed his optometry degree in 1990 and is a founding partner at Eyes On.  He then went on to complete two additional degrees in the area of optometry. Part of his Masters degree included Behavioural Optometry, and area of optometry that focuses on children's vision, visual development and visual learning problems. He has attended a number of overseas conferences and courses including a two week Grand Rounds training session at the University of New York.   His interests include Children's vision, ocular disease, contact lenses and low vision.
 

Matthew Smith

Matthew is a founding partner of Eyes On and our General Manager.  He is a qualified optical dispenser and works at our Collins Street store.  Matthew has also completed a Bachelor of Business.
 
When not working Matt is a keen cyclist and rower.
 

Jan Ungerer

Certificate in Sports Vision
 
Jan completed her optometry degree in 1994 and has gone on to complete a Masters degree and certificate in sports vision.  She enjoys all areas of optometry and has particular interests in ocular pathology, contact lenses and sports vision.
 
Jan works part time at our Warrandyte store.
 

Sib Verma

Sib graduated optometry in 2004.  She then went on to complete a Masters degree in Optometry at the University of NSW and a therapeutics degree at Melbourne University. She has interests in the areas of ocular disease, contact lenses and therapeutics. Sib is passionate about helping people and for many years has traveled to East Timor and Samoa as a volunteer to provide eye care services to the local community.  Recently she has become involved in a program to train locals in eye care.
 
In her spare time she loves traveling, snowboarding and films.
 

Ros Wells

Ros graduated from the University of Melbourne in 2002.  She has worked as a clinician at the Australian College of Optometry and as a locum in country Victoria for the Optometry Association.  Her interests include ocular disease, contact lenses and laser surgery.  She is therapeutically qualified and is please to be able to prescribe ocular medications to manage eye infections and inflammation.
 
Ros has two gorgeous you children and enjoys playing tennis and reading in her spare time.
