What’s new in Contact Lenses

The Eyes On group is one of the largest contact lens practices in Victoria. As a result we have access to not only a wide range of contact lens varieties, but also to the very latest technology.

Some of the newest contact lenses include;
1) Extended Wear Contact Lenses. Lenses that can be left in your eyes for up to one month at a time. These are continually being upgraded and Bausch and Lomb have now released the ‘Pure Vision Toric’ lens for those with astigmatism.

2) Multifocal Disposable Lenses. For those people lucky enough to have reached middle age but don’t like the idea of reading glasses. They offer both distance and near vision correction in the one contact lens.

3) One Day disposables. Ciba Vision has now released a daily disposable toric lens for those with astigmatism. Use them once then throw them out.

4) Our own Betaview lens is still the most popular monthly disposable with easy handling and great comfort. It is now available in a toric form for those with astigmatism.

5) High Oxygen Transmission With even more oxygen transmissibility the Avuvue Advance lens is the latest product from Johnson and Johnson.

*ALL THESE CONTACT LENSES ARE AVAILABLE FOR FREE TRIAL - YOU JUST NEED AN APPOINTMENT WITH ONE OF OUR OPTOMETRISTS

What’s new with Spectacles and lenses

With the great new range of fashion spectacles available it seems a waste to use the basic conventional lenses. Here are a few options:

1) Hi- index super thin plastic lenses. The combination of super-thin and light weight means the days of "coke bottle" glasses are over. NIKON has released a 1.74 index plastic lens perfect for those high myopes.

2) Transitions. These lenses have been widely advertised offering the combination of clear indoors and dark in the sun all in the one pair of glasses. The ‘Next Generation Transition’ lens is now faster acting and available in a 1.67 index plastic, for those with high prescriptions.

3) Computer glasses. Especially for our city clients who spend all day staring at a computer screen the new Sola Access lens provides excellent flexibility with near focus lower and intermediate-to-distance above - all in the one lens. This lens has remarkably high levels of adaptation.

4) Teflon Coatings. All lenses are now available with extra tough anti-reflective coatings. These are less likely to scratch and easier to clean.

Health Insurance Funds

Many of you have private optical health insurance and may not be aware that we can organise your claim electronically at all our practices. This saves you having to make the claim yourself and you just pay the difference for you optical supplies. All you need to bring with you is your health insurance card.

Ashburton Practice

We have recently added another practice to the Eyes On Group, ‘Eyes On Ashburton.’ This practice is located in the High Street shopping strip of Ashburton and has been recently given a ‘face lift.’ Debra Boyce continues to consult at this practice, as does Dario Canale. If you live in the area we look forward to meeting you soon.

Southgate Practice

We have recently opened another practice in the CBD, ‘Eyes On Southgate,’ which is located perfectly in Southbank, behind the main entrance, near the Langham Hotel. This practice, with its designer fitout, has the latest optical frames and the largest array of sunglasses of all our practices. Tony Carnovale, the practice manager, as well as being a fully qualified optical dispenser, has worked in optics for over 20 years and has all the expertise to help with fashion advice, along with our fully qualified optometrist, Victoria Buckeridge.
